Cornelia looooves bath time. As soon as dinner is over she pushes back her little chair and says, "Baaa?". Sometimes it's a go, sometimes it's not, but she's always thrilled when the answer is "yes"!
Now that the kids are getting bigger we've graduated from the toss them all in the tub and get 'er done mentality into some take showers and some take baths. Often times Max and Cornelia will still take a bath together, especially if we are short on time (and we usually are!).
On this particular night though, Ruby had showered earlier, so Max got to shower in the master bath while Cornelia took her bath as usual. Jared had that girl cleaned up and into her footie pajamas before Max had even gotten soaped up, so she went off exploring while we cleaned up the kitchen and decluttered a bit from the day. All of a sudden we realized that it was a little too quiet so Jared went to find our littlest trouble maker. Imagine his surprise when he found her...
Why Maxwell didn't raise the alarm I'll never understand! I guess he's just so used to bathing with his baby sister that he didn't even pay attention to the little problem of her pjs being on! Silly kids!

Swagger Wagon
I'm not sure if this makes it any better to be a minivan owner now, but it is funny! :)

I'm not invited...
This is why you might not want to invite me to your wedding. And no, there was absolutely not one drop of alcohol in the building or my body. It's just me... trying to win $100,000 on AFV... and not succeeding.

Happy Halloween!
I've heard that there's one in every town, but I think these folks might take the cake! This house takes decorating to a startling new level for every imaginable holiday. Halloween has brought out dozens of inflatable decorations along with the lights, window decorations, etc. They actually share a driveway with their neighbors and now some of the decorations have started to spill into the neighbors yard. It's impressive. The night that we pulled over to take this photo there were actually about a dozen people milling around the yard looking at all the decorations!! It was pretty funny. Hopefully we'll have our good camera with us tonight to get a better photo. Til then, this gives you an idea of the craziness. Jared has suggested that I start a new series tracking their decorations, so just you wait... Thanksgiving is just around the corner!

I'll close with a picture of the kids' jack-o-lanterns that we carved on Wednesday night! Predictably, Max LOVED the goo and Ruby refused to get her hands messy. What a girl.
Lastly, I found this poem/prayer yesterday and will definitely save it for next year. Enjoy!
Dear God,
As I carve my pumpkin help me say this prayer....
Open my mind so I can learn about you. (Cut the top of the pumpkin)
Take away all my sins and forgive me for the wrong things I do. (Clean out the inside)
Open my eyes so Your love I will see. (Cut the eyes out in the shape of a cross)
Open my ears so Your Word I will hear. (Cut the ears shaped like the Bible-rectangles)
Open my mouth so I can tell others You are near. (Cut the mouth)
Let Your light shine in all I say and do! (Place a candle inside and light it)
AMEN!

Feeling Hungry Friday!
Here are a few fun quizzes to launch you into the weekend. We've got rain predicted here... Thanks Tropical Storm Hannah! Maybe we'll manage to get down to business shopping for new beds for the kids. And I've got a couple of sewing projects I sure would like to tackle!! Maybe rainy days aren't so bad after all...especially when Daddy's around to wrestle with the kids!

Old Fashioned Gal
I spotted this quiz over at Mamasphere and thought I'd give it a try. Apparently I'm just an old fashioned gal. I'd be curious to see how I'd rate as a 21st century wife!

beantown
Inquiring minds want to know...
WHY is Boston called "Beantown"?
Back in colonial days, a favorite Boston food was beans baked in molasses for several hours. Back then, Boston was sort of awash in molasses - it was part of the "triangular trade" in which slaves in the Caribbean grew sugar cane to be shipped to Boston to be made into rum to be sent to West Africa to buy more slaves to send to the West Indies. Even after the end of this practice, Boston continued as big rum producing city - the Great Molasses Flood of 1919 (which killed 21), ocurred when a tank holding molasses for rum production exploded.
Today, Boston baked beans are something of a rarity - there are no companies in the city making it and only a few restaurants serve it. If you want to try it yourself, here's a Boston baked beans recipe.
(Thanks to The Boston FAQ for supplying that thoroughly interesting answer!)
